Toys British

Toys British
My friend just got a 2yrs old cat (British Shorthair male) and I was wondering what toys or food would it like?

But not a kitty “condo” or a extra special food bowl.

Thx everyone :D .

Well cats are usually very happy with cardboard boxes, they can sleep in them, hide, pounce on things from them, most of cats adore them.

You don’t really need to buy special toys, but I’m a freak about them, so I buy my cats loads of them. I have multiple ‘fishing poles’ with strings, he loves them. I heard about ‘Da Bird’ being awesome. But anything you can throw on the floor and the cat would chase it is good :-)

As for the food, I wouldn‘t really recommend feeding any dry food. Cats are designed to get their water from food. That’s the way nature designed them, they have low thirst drive. When fed dry, they won’t drink enough to compensate for the lack of moisture. They will only consume about 50% of the water they should be having. This can lead to kidney disease, UTI, crystals, blockage, renal failure and more.

Free feeding also contributes to obesity. And the fact that dry food is over-processed means, that most of it’s little nutrition has been already destroyed, leaving almost no nutrients for your cat. It needs to eat more to meet it’s needs, and in the process consumes more calories from the fillers.

Btw wetting the dry food will not help. There’s bacteria on the kibble and the water would just allow it to grow.

The only way to give the cat it’s natural hydration is to feed it wet food only.

But some wet foods are not of a very high quality, either. That goes for most commercial foods. Just like the dry, they are often made with cheap fillers such as corn, wheat, soy, rice etc. These are not a part of cat’s natural diet (it’s an obligate carnivore – it eats meat) and they are not designed to digest it. Grain is carbohydrate which the cats can’t process and it turns into blood sugar and fat, causing diabetes and obesity. In the wild, where cats only hunt for meat, diabetes and obesity are unheard of. It’s us who cause these by feeding a species inappropriate food.

We usually read labels on our food, but rarely on the food for our cats. Learn to read the label and understand the ingredients. The healthiest food to feed apart from raw feeding is grain-free wet food with no by-product. Some good brands are Wellness CORE, EVO, Merrick, Nature’s Variety, Blue Buffalo Wilderness and more. These will give your cat the proper hydration and nutrition it’s designed to get and it will be strong and healthy.

If you switch it’s diet, do it gradually, by mixing the current food with the new one over couple of weeks until there’s only the new. This will prevent diarrhea and upset stomach.

You will probably get a lot of different answers, so google feline nutrition or look at the links below, and do the research for yourself. I personally wasn’t able to find one reliable source (besides the pet food industry) that would say grain is beneficial for cats or that dry is beneficial for them.

More on cat nutrition below,

Good luck!

Toys and Models Concorde British Airways

The ATrospatialeBAC Concorde supersonic transport (SST) was the more successful of the only two supersonic passenger airliners to have ever operated commercially (the Tupolev Tu144 being the other). First flown in 1969 its service commenced in 1976 and continued for 27 years. It flew regular transatlantic flights from London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France) to New York JFK and Washington Dulles flying these routes at record speeds in under half the time of other airliners. It also set many other records including the official FAI Westbound Around The World and Eastbound Around the World world air speed records. British Airways (BA) is the largest airline of the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. It was one of only two operators of the Concorde supersonic airliner (the other being the stateowned Air France) with a daily service between Heathrow and New York JFK. BA used the aircraft to win business customers guaranteeing a certain number of Concorde upgrades in return for corporate accounts with the airline a key factor in winning business from transatlantic competitors. Concorde made large operating profits for British Airways for much of its service life. British Airways simultaneously with Air France inaugurated the worlds first supersonic passenger service with Concorde in January 1976. While commercial jets take seven hours to fly from New York to Paris the average supersonic flight time on the transatlantic routes was just under 3.5 hours. In transatlantic flight Concorde travelled more than twice as fast as other aircraft making them appear to be flying backwards. Up to 2003 Air France and British Airways continued to operate the New York services daily.Wing span: 10.25 inch length.

Building Toys

Building Toys

$9.95

Building blocks have been a familiar presence in children’s toy collections for generations, but in the twentieth century new production techniques allowed the building brick to evolve into a multiplicity of systems that could make any child his or her own architect and skilled builder, capable of constructing realistic and sturdy miniature buildings. This highly illustrated book is devoted to British building toys with all the major brands and some of the minor ones represented. Photographs of sets, completed buildings and the box art and advertising material that were used to sell these toys make this book a feast of nostalgia for anyone who grew up in the middle years of the last century, and an invaluable source of information for any collectors who keep the memory of these toys alive today. The Great Court of the British Museum

The Great Court of the British Museum

$9.99

At the 250th anniversary, the British Museum undertook a huge redevelopment programme, largely facilitated by the removal of the British Library from its midst. Lord Foster’s Great Court is at the centre of the positioning of the Museum for the new millennium, creating at the same time a new civic space. A vast glass canopy curves over a specially-created piazza, with the dome of the famous round Reading Room at its centre. Lying at the heart of the Museum, the Great Court forges a link between the Museum’s important architectural history and a 21st century concept of building design on the grand scale. The Great Court explores the creation of this unique ‘urban room’, the impetus and background of the project, the architectural competition, the complex design and construction process, and the very role of the Museum itself.

Caricatures of the Peoples of the British Isles

Caricatures of the Peoples of the British Isles

$9.99

The political satirical print enjoyed its heyday during the 18th and early 19th century and was the predecessor of modern newspaper cartoons. Their power lies in the startling combination of draughtsmanship, merciless humour and often disturbing insights into social and political scenarios. To mark the three-hundred year anniversary of the formation of the United Kingdom (finalised by the Act of Union in 1707) this book presents a selection of works from the Museum’s 20,000 work collection of satirical and political prints. The thematic exploration of caricatures and stereotypes of (and by) the differing UK countries showcases some of the best comic moments in cartooning. It reveals the differing attitudes that the English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish have held towards one another over the centuries. Popular artists such as Gillray, Rowlandson and Scarfe all have contributions to make on this fascinating theme. The resulting giftbook brilliantly highlights attitudes and events in British

Catalogue of Terracottas in the British Museum

$120

This, the fourth in the British Museum’s series of terracottas catalogues, features terracottas found in Egypt and dating from the victory of Alexander in 332 BC and the succeeding Ptolemaic and Roman periods until the Arab conquest in AD 641. No doubt purchased by both Greek and Egyptian members of the population, most such terracottas most probably came predominantly from the houses of city- and village-dwellers, and, placed in a house-shrine, would have been thought by their owners to have a protective function over their households in everyday life and in childbirth. They would also enhance the fertility of fields and animals. Some 830 terracottas and objects, arranged thematically, are discussed and illustrated. The introduction describes the scope and content of the material; its function and distribution within the villages and cities of Egypt; its religious context;the difficulties of dating it; and manufacturing techniques.

For this book the author has selected over 70 such ‘documents’, mainly from western Asia, with some examples included from Greece, Egypt and Asia Minor, dating from the period of the Patriarchs to the New Testament times, c.2000 BC to c.AD 100. He transliterates and translates the ancient texts, which include cuneiform, Aramaic and Hebrew, and discusses the contribution they make to our knowledge of the culture and history of biblical times. Each object is illustrated in black and white.

British Museum charms

$40

This silver bracelet allows you to attach your choice of British Museum charms, all of which are interchangeable and represent some of the most famous objects in the Museum’s collection. Iconic items from the Museum have been turned into accurate silver miniatures for this bracelet, and are as follows:Lewis Chess Piece: The original Lewis chess set was found on the Isle of Lewis under mysterious circumstances sometime before April 1831, and consists of elaborately worked walrus ivory and whales’ teeth pieces in the forms of seated kings and queens, mitred bishops, knights on their mounts, standing warders and pawns in the shape of obelisks.Egyptian Hippo: In Ancient Egypt hippos were identified with the goddess Thoeris, who was thought to bring luck and protection, and with Seth, the god of storms. Discobulus: This piece is inspired by a marble copy of a lost bronze original from the 5th century BC, thought to have been created by the famous sculptor Myron. Egyptian Mummy: Based on the anthropoid coffins of Henutmehyt, this type of human-shaped tomb was believed to provide a substitute body for the spirit if the mummy should perish. Kakiemon Elephant: Animal ornaments were a favourite in European homes, and from 1660 potters from Kyushu starting using this Kakiemon-style decoration of coloured enamels to create items such as these elephants. Egyptian Cat: Even today domestic cats are associated with the culture of Ancient Egypt and the goddes Bastet, and this charm is based on particularly fine example of a decorated cat statue, featuring gold rings, silvered collar and protective wedjat silver eye amulet. Greek Owl: This charm is based on the Silver tetradrachm of Athens which shows the sacred bird of the Goddess of Athens, Athena, the owl. The owl design remained unchanged on Athenian coinage for over 300 years, and the owls of Athens became familiar coins throughout the Greek world. Indian Buddha: This charm has been modeled on the Marble statue of tirthankara from the British Museum collection, from western India, AD 1150-1200. The Indian faith of Jainism arose at around the same time as Buddhism.

This thoughtful and highly readable book covers every aspect of the culture, from early prehistory, through the three millennia of pharaonic history, to the years of late Roman antiquity when Christianity replaced the Ancient Egyptian religion and the hieroglyphic script died out. The expert authors draw on the most recent discoveries and research, as well as the vast Egyptian collections of the British Museum, to illustrate the many facets of this magnificent ancient kingdom. Individual sections are devoted to the natural setting of the Nile valley; the social and economic life of its inhabitants, with an historical outline; the religious beliefs presented in ancient art and texts; the funerary practices of the Ancient Egyptians and their distinctive art and architecture.

The stelae provide a window on the religion and language of the Carthaginians, both of which are still imperfectly understood. They date from between the 4th century BC to the 4th century AD, and in the catalogue they are divided into Punic and Neo-Punic, according to whether they pre- or post-date the Roman sack of Carthage in 146 BC. The catalogue describes each stela, giving transcriptions and translations of the Punic and neo-Punic inscriptions, plus measurements and bibliographical references. Every stela is photographic

The Oxus Treasure

The Oxus Treasure

$5

The Oxus Treasure is a lively and accessible exploration of the individual objects that make up this beautiful collection of treasures from the Achaemenid era, and how they were eventually discovered. In May 1880 Captain F.C. Burton, a British political officer in Afghanistan, rescued a group of merchants who had been captured by bandits while travelling between Kabul and Peshawar. With them was a rich and impressive collection of gold and silver objects dating back to the fifth and fourth centuries BC. From the banks of the River Oxus, the entire hoard was, in due course, bequeathed to the British Museum. Consisting of around 170 objects, including vessels, a gold scabbard, armlets, coins and much more, the collection is an example of ancient goldsmithery at its very best. With exciting and descriptive insight placing the treasure into historical and cultural context, this book takes a closer look at the individual wonders that make up the Oxus Treasure, one of the British Museums most celebrated and cherished collections. The author John Curtis is Keeper of the Department of Middle East at the British Museum. Mainly interested in archaeology and history of Iraq and Iran circa 1000-330 BC, John has directed a number of excavations on behalf of the British Museum. John has authored several books, including Forgotten Empire: The World of Ancient Persia, with Nigel Tallis (British Museum Press, 2005).

RP 181: Cosmetic Sets of Late Iron Age and Roman Britain

$30

Cosmetic Sets of Late Iron Age and Roman Britain is the first comprehensive research publication of this insular British type intimately associated with bodily appearance and identity. Cosmetic sets are small two-piece bronze toilet implements for the preparation of mineral powders, probably colourings for the eyelids and face. Found almost exclusively in Britain, they range in date from the Late Iron Age to the 4th century. An association with fertitlity is indicated by the crescent shape, by overtly phallic imagery and by the twinning of male and female animal heads. Ralph Jackson’s research led to proper recognition of the type, and subsequently the British Museum has built up the largest single collection (160 examples). This catalogue includes not only the British Museum examples but also those in other museums and private collections throughout Britain. It focuses on typology and function but also considers manufacture, including the results of scientific analysis, followed by full discussions of decoration, context, distribution and dating.

AT-6G Texan (Silver) USAF 1/32 Scale Model Aircraft

$128.19

The AT-6 Texan advanced trainer, built by North American, is one of the most widely used aircraft in history. Also known as the pilot maker , 15,495 Texans were built between 1938 and 1945. The USAAF. procured 10,057 AT-6s; others went to the Navy as SNJs and to more than 30 Allied nations. Most AAF fighter pilots trained in AT-6s prior to graduation from flying school. Many of the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots in the Battle of Britain trained in Canada in Harvards, the British version of the AT-6. To comply with neutrality laws, U.S. built Harvards were flown north to the border and were pushed across. In 1948, Texans still in USAF service were redesignated as T-6s. To meet an urgent need for close air support of ground forces in the Korean Conflict, T-6s flew mosquito missions spotting enemy troops and guns and marking them with smoke rockets for attack by fighter-bombers. More than 360 T-6s are still flying. Dimensions: 10.75 L x 15 W x 6 H

It was manufactured by McDonnell Douglas, Boeing and BAE Systems. Its maiden flight was on the 9th of November 1978 and introduced on the 12th of January 1985. Its primary users are U.S. Marine Corps; Royal Air Force and Navy; Spanish Navy; and the Italian Navy. This aircraft was developed from Hawker Siddeley Harrier and BAE Sea Harrier. The AV-8B was a single-seat, light attack aircraft that provide offensive air support to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force or MAGTF. Its primary function was to attack and destroy surface targets under day and night visual conditions. It can operate from a variety of ships, forward sites such as roads, and many others. AV-8B Harrier II USMC 1/48 Scale Model Aircraft

AV-8B Harrier II USMC 1/48 Scale Model Aircraft

$119.92

The McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II is a family of second-generation vertical/short takeoff and landing jet multi-role aircraft of the late 20th century. Developed from the earlier Hawker Siddeley Harriers, it is primarily used for light attack or multi-role tasks, typically operated from small aircraft carriers. Versions are used by several NATO countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and the United States. Though it shares the designation letter number with the earlier AV-8A Harrier, the AV-8B Harrier II was extensively redesigned by McDonnell Douglas. Both models are commonly referred to as the Harrier Jump-jet. The AV8B had its direct origins in a joint British-US project (Hawker-Siddeley and McDonnell Douglas) for a much-improved Harrier aircraft, the AV-16. However the British later pulled out of the program. Using things learned from AV-16 development, McDonnell continued the development work which lead to the AV-8B for the US Marine Corps. The aircraft was centered on the Marines need for a light ground attack airplane and focused on payload and range as opposed to speed. The first Harrier IIs produced were commonly known as the Day Attack variant, and are no longer in service. Most were upgraded to Night Attack Harrier or Harrier II Plus standards, with the remainder being withdrawn from service. Several variants of the Harrier are used by four countries military forces: the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain and Italy. The US Marine Corps has operated the AV-8B since 1985. B-36J Peacemaker 1/125 Scale Model Aircraft

B-36J Peacemaker 1/125 Scale Model Aircraft

$141.99

Six pusher radial engines, mounted on the trailing edge of the wings, powered this big long-range SAC bomber. The D, burn and turn , model was boosted by a pair of turbojet pods under the outer wings. A strategic bomb built by Convair for the United States Air Force, the B36 Peacemaker is said to be the very first bomber that had intercontinental range and was also the first thermonuclear weapon delivery vehicle. The Peacemaker was the largest combat aircraft ever built. Its 230 foot wingspan is almost fifty percent longer than that of the huge B-52 that replaced it. The B-36 was one of Americas major deterrents to violence by a prospective adversary for eight years. From 1948 to 1958, the B-36 became part of the USAF Strategic Air Command. Major General Henry Arnold described the B-36 as the plane that could fly the skin off any rivals. The Peacemaker was also the first Cold War Bomber. Unlike any other aircraft that were seen in wars dropping bombs or firing on an enemy, the B-36 was never seen in any of these actions. Instead, the Peacemaker was closest seen during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the Suez Crisis where it was dispatched to Turkey and Morocco. Thus, the Peacemaker is famous for never having fired a shot in anger and the plane that kept peace for ten long years. The B-36 Peacemaker was also involved in two aircraft collapse incidents, one was February 13, 1950 in an unpopulated region of British Columbia and it was the first loss of an American Nuclear Weapon. The other one was on May 22, 1957 when a B-36 accidentally dropped a bomb on a deserted area while landing at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque. A total of 388 B-36 Peacemakers were produced. The last one was built on August 1954. Then on June 29, 1955 the first B-52 was delivered to SAC. All Peacemaker models were delivered and converted to J models on which two jet engines were added to each wing. The last B-36 Peacemaker made its final flight in 1959. $125.4

The BAE Jetstream 31 is a small twin turboprop airliner, with a pressurized fuselage, originally designed to meet the requirements of the United States feederliner and regional airline market. Scottish Aviation formed the company Jetstream Aircraft to produce the aircraft. After Scottish Aviation went bankrupt and was merged into British Aerospace in 1978, BAe decided the design was worth further development, and started work on a Mark 3 Jetstream. The result was the Jetstream 31, which first flew on March 28, 1980. The new version proved to be popular and several hundred 31s were built during the 1980s. In August 2006 a total of 158 BAe Jetstream 31 and 32 aircraft remain in airline service. The BAe Jetstream 31 has a crew of two and has a seating capacity of 19 passengers. It has a maximum speed of 488 km/h and a range of 1,260 km. It incorporates two Garrett TPE331-10UG turboprop with 701 kW each. The BAe Jetstream 31s major operators include Coast Air, Direktflyg, Sun Air of Scandinavia, Blue Islands, Boston-Maine Airways and RegionsAir and Air National of New Zealand. Other airlines also operate the BAE Jetstream. Dimensions: 12.75 L x 6 W x 3.3 H

Building blocks have been a familiar presence in children”s toy collections for generations, but in the twentieth century new production techniques allowed the building brick to evolve into a multiplicity of systems that could make any child his or her own architect and skilled builder, capable of constructing realistic and sturdy miniature buildings.

Captain’s Mistress – Cultural Classics Edition

$39.98

This edition of Captain’s Mistress, which is a part of the Cultural Classics line of historic games, is one of the finest iterations available and is perfect for gift-giving or coffee table display. Captain’s Mistress is the predecessor to the perennial favorite 4-In-A-Row game that originated over 500 years ago in England. According to legend, the famous British sailor, Captain Cook, played this game with his fellow shipmates on all three of his major voayages. In fact, Cook spent so much time playing the game, it actually came to be known as the Captain’s Mistress. The object of Captain’s Mistress is simple, yet the strategies are limitless. Players try to line up their round (glass marbles) in a row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The first player to do so, wins the game.Captain’s Mistress comes housed in a period-authentic, eye-catching wooden chest with recycled glass balls, evocative of the maritime floats or buoys that were hand-blown from colorful glass by the local artisans of the 18th century. All playing pieces store inside the chest, including the wooden gangplank, which is pulled away to release the glass balls once a winner is determined. A subtle wood burn on the lid identifies this historic game and completes its remarkable look as a home d cor piece, as well as a timeless game that will be passed down from generation to generation. For 2 – 4 players, age 14 and up.Contents Include: 1 solid wood box, 42 solid glass marble playing pieces, 1 wooden plank and 1 Captain’s Mistress History Booklet/Rulebook.

 Catapult Kit

Catapult Kit

$19

Pathfinders’ innovative wooden science kits build working replicas of infamous and powerful, medieval siege engines, including the Catapult. While these scale models will only be smashing down imaginary castle walls, they are loads of fun to build and use. Weapons that once smashed castle and fortress walls changed the course of many a kingdom! Building this catapult allows children and adults to explore the link between design, materials and technology. A wonderful lesson in how basic mechanical principles turned simple materials into very useful and effective tools. Pathfinders kits are designed by Derek Wulff, a science educator in British Columbia, and made in Canada. The kits are based on historic designs: the Catapult on ones used during the Middle Ages. The kits use only wood and rope. Pieces are joined by wooden dowels, not screws or nails. No elastic, rubber, motor or batteries are used to create the movement of these device’s swing arms. All pieces are pre-cut and drilled requiring only wood or white glue to assemble. The instructions are detailed and complete with educational notes about the siege engine. When completed, the Catapult stands 6 in tall x 5 in wide x 10 in long. It can shoot a ball of soft modeling clay over 15 feet when properly tuned. (Modeling clay is included in the kit.) Catapult Science Kit Objects fly 10 ft or more – imaginations fly further Discover science principles in assembly & exploration of a working device Test different weights of projectiles Make predictions and measure distances Put together basics of physics, engineering, devices of antiquity, history Explore the links between design, materials, and technology Experiment with tension, torsion, traction and gravity Study trajectory and use of a power source for hurling objects Safety Instructions Included Assembly time: 1-2 hours Use with adult supervision Ages 10+

Concorde Air France 1/100 Scale Model Aircraft

Concorde Air France 1/100 Scale Model Aircraft

$140.14

The Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde supersonic transport (SST) was first flown by Andre Turcat in 1969. The aircraft was initially referred to as Concorde , with the French spelling, but the name was changed officially by Harold Macmillan to Concord . Concorde pioneered double-delta shaped wings, variable inlet ramps, supercruise capability, thrust-by-wire engines and a droop-nose section for improved landing visibility. In February 1965, there were two Concorde prototypes built. The first was the 001, which was built by Aerospatiale at Toulouse and 002, built by BAC at Filton, Bristol. On September 4, 1971, Concorde embarked on a sales and demonstration tour, as the flight programme progressed. While the Concorde 002 toured the Middle and Far East on June 2, 1972. These trips resulted in 70 aircraft orders, but a number of incidents occurred that resulted to a sudden number of order cancellations such as the oil crisis in 1973 and the sonic boom, takeoff-noise and pollution. The Concorde service commenced in 1976 and was in service for about 27 years. The airliner flew regular transatlantic flights from British Airways and Air France to New York JFK and Washington Dulles in just less than half the time compared to other airliners. In 1971, the US had cancelled its supersonic transport (SST) program. Concordes scheduled flights started on January 21, 1976 on the London-Bahrain and Paris-Rio (via Dakar) routes. New York banned Concorde locally about the time when the US ban on JFK Concorde operations was lifted in February 1977. From 1974 onwards, European Airlines flew both demonstration and test flights. There were 20 Concordes built in total, six for development and 14 for commercial service. Dimensions: 24.5 L x 7 W x 5.28 H

Concorde British Airways 1/100 Scale Model Aircraft

Concorde British Airways 1/100 Scale Model Aircraft

$151.54

The Arospatiale-BAC Concorde supersonic transport (SST) was the more successful of the only two supersonic passenger airliners to have ever operated commercially (the Tupolev Tu-144 being the other). First flown in 1969, its service commenced in 1976 and continued for 27 years. It flew regular transatlantic flights from London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France) to New York JFK and Washington Dulles, flying these routes at record speeds, in under half the time of other airliners. It also set many other records, including the official FAI Westbound Around The World and Eastbound Around the World world air speed records. British Airways (BA) is the largest airline of the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. It was one of only two operators of the Concorde supersonic airliner (the other being the state-owned Air France), with a daily service between Heathrow and New York JFK. BA used the aircraft to win business customers, guaranteeing a certain number of Concorde upgrades in return for corporate accounts with the airline, a key factor in winning business from transatlantic competitors. Concorde made large operating profits for British Airways for much of its service life. British Airways, simultaneously with Air France, inaugurated the worlds first supersonic passenger service with Concorde in January 1976. While commercial jets take seven hours to fly from New York to Paris, the average supersonic flight time on the transatlantic routes was just under 3.5 hours. In transatlantic flight, Concorde traveled more than twice as fast as other aircraft, making them appear to be flying backwards. Up to 2003, Air France and British Airways continued to operate the New York services daily. Dimensions: 24.5 L x 7 W x 5.06 H

 Darjeeling

Darjeeling

$39.95

In 1835 the British East India Company leased the region around the location of the modern-day city of Darjeeling. The British had more than a strategically placed trading post in mind — because of the favorable climate they wanted to build a sanatorium there as well! That climate which was to bring relief to sanatorium visitors can be thanked for one of the most sought-after tea varieties in the world: Darjeeling. Tea connoisseurs from around the globe treasure the extremely fine and flowery aroma of the First Flush the first harvest of the year’s new growth. But the many flavors of teas from the following harvests are also unsurpassed. For a long time only traditional black tea was produced in Darjeeling. In the meantime however other teas are exported by the region teas produced by different fermentation techniques. So these days for example Green Darjeeling is not the rarity it once was. To make the tea varieties more distinguishable as well as making other Regions which chiefly produce other tea varieties playable via alternate playing area setups (shown at the end of the rules) the tea crates in the game are black green white and red for black teagreen tea white tea and Pu-Erh sometimes also called red tea respectively. While searching for the best teas the players cross the entire region and assemble the largest shipments possible for each individual tea variety. The latest teas to be loaded are always worth more victory points than the older ones as tea connoisseurs naturally prefer the freshest cargo. But preferences for individual tea varieties also bring the players victory points while loading shipments. The game ends as soon as one player has reached 100 victory points.

F4U-4 Corsair USN 1/32 Scale Model Aircraft

F4U-4 Corsair USN 1/32 Scale Model Aircraft

$137.62

The F4U Corsair was the result of a 1938 United States Navy (USN) requirement for a new carrier aircraft that could match the performance of the best land and carrier-based fighter planes. Designed by Rex Buren Beisel and manufactured by Chance Vought, it was made to carry the most powerful engine and largest diameter propeller ever built at that time. Although designed as a carrier fighter for the USN, concerns about its landing and visibility characteristics led it to be used initially by the United States Marine Corps (USMC), which operated on land-based runways. In March 1943, the Marines introduced the aircraft to its debut combat. Eventually it was put into service with the USN in January 1944, after the British proved that it was able to operate safely from carriers. The plane was not slow to prove its fighting ability and succeeded in gunning down 2,140 enemy aircraft while losing only 189 F4Us during World War II. Consequently, 24 Corsair pilots became air aces. The Corsair was given the nicknames The Sweetheart of the Marianas and The Angel of Okinawa by allied ground forces. The Japanese troops dubbed it Whistling Death because of the sound that it made during dive-bombing or strafing runs. The F4U-4 was the last variant to be produced during World War II, entering service just four months before the end of hostilities. With a rate-of-climb of nearly 4,000 feet per minute and a service ceiling of 41,500 feet, it was the Navys answer to the much improved Japanese fighters that were arriving in the Pacific. In addition to a new propeller, the F4U-4 had a completely redesigned cockpit, a new canopy for improved bubble effect, a new armor-plated bucket seat, and regrouped instruments. Improved fighter-bomber capabilities were made possible by putting rocket stations on the outer wing panels. The F4U-4 saw combat in Korea between 1950 and 1953. Dimensions: 12.25 L x 19 W x 7 H

$139.23

The MQ-9 Reaper (originally the Predator B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) for use by the United States Air Force, the United States Navy, and the British Royal Air Force. The MQ-9 is the first hunter-killer UAV designed for long-endurance, high-altitude surveillance. The MQ-9 is a larger and more capable aircraft than the earlier MQ-1 Predator. It can use MQ-1′s ground systems. The MQ-9 has a 950-shaft-horsepower turboprop engine, far more powerful than the Predator’s 115 hp (86 kW) piston engine. The increase in power allows the Reaper to carry 15 times more ordnance and cruise at three times the speed of the MQ-1.In 2008 the New York Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing began to transition from F-16 piloted planes to MQ-9 Reaper drones, which are capable of remote controlled or autonomous flight, becoming the first all-robot attack squadron. Then U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff General T. Michael Moseley said, We’ve moved from using UAVs primarily in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance roles before Operation Iraqi Freedom, to a true hunter-killer role with the Reaper. As of 2009 the U.S. Air Force s fleet stands at 195 Predators and 28 Reapers.
