Reimage works by comparing each and every OS system files with the correct files from a web repository of 25 million Windows components. (since Reimage works by comparing with correct file, it can easily find the hiding rootkit, infact this is what a rootkit remover do……dumps a list of files from your hard disk drive and compares it with the list from the recovery console in order to find a hiding virus) This is the sole reason you can get a PC as good as new once you run Reimage, all other antivirus and antimalware programs just delete the virus….but they don’t correct the damage…which results in re-infection and slow performing PC.
Reimage first scans your computer thoroughly; all the files, folders, registry keys and values, drivers, softwares, stacks and then either repair or remove those stuffs that should be there. But it’s not just that it does. The Last Mughal $13.99 In this evocative study of the fall of the Mughal Empire and the beginning of the Raj, award-winning historian William Dalrymple uses previously undiscovered sources to investigate a pivotal moment in history. The last Mughal emperor, Zafar, came to the throne when the political power of the Mughals was already in steep decline. Nonetheless, Zafar—a mystic, poet, and calligrapher of great accomplishment—created a court of unparalleled brilliance, and gave rise to perhaps the greatest literary renaissance in modern Indian history. All the while, the British were progressively taking over the Emperor’s power. When, in May 1857, Zafar was declared the leader of an uprising against the British, he was powerless to resist though he strongly suspected that the action was doomed. Four months later, the British took Delhi, the capital, with catastrophic results. With an unsurpassed understanding of British and Indian history, Dalrymple crafts a provocative, revelatory account of one the bloodiest upheavals in history. From the Trade Paperback edition. |

The Last Wish $11.81 A European superstar comes to the UK for the first time! Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. He roams the country seeking assignments, but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple navety. One reviewer said: ‘This book is a sheer delight. It is beautifully written, full of vitality and endlessly inventive: its format, with half a dozen episodes and intervening rest periods for both the hero and the reader, allows for a huge range of characters, scenarios and action. It’s thought-provoking without being in the least dogmatic, witty without descending to farce and packed with swordfights without being derivative. The dialogue sparkles; characters morph almost imperceptibly from semi-clich to completely original; nothing is as it first seems. Sapkowski succeeds in seamlessly welding familiar ideas, unique settings and delicious twists of originality: his Beauty wants to rip the throat out of a sensitive Beast; his Snow White seeks vengeance on all and sundry, his elves are embittered and vindictive. It’s easily one of the best things I’ve read in ages.’ |

The Law of Affirmative Action $75 The debate over race in this country has of late converged on the contentious issue of affirmative action. Although the Supreme Court once supported the concept of racial affirmative action, in recent years a majority of the Court has consistently opposed various affirmative action programs. The Law of Affirmative Action provides a comprehensive chronicle of the evolution of the Supreme Court's involvement with the racial affirmative action issue over the last quarter century. Starting with the 1974 DeFunis v. Odegaard decision and the 1978 Bakke decision, which marked the beginnings of the Court's entanglement with affirmative action, Girardeau Spann examines every major Supreme Court affirmative action decision, showing how the controversy the Court initially left unresolved in DeFunis has persisted through the Court's 1998-99 term. Including nearly thirty principal cases, covering equal protection, voting rights, Title VII, and education, The Law of Affirmative Action is the only work to treat the Court decisions on racial affirmative action so closely, tracing the votes of each justice who has participated in the decisions. Indispensable for students and scholars, this timely volume elucidates reasons for the 180 degree turn in opinion on an issue so central to the debate on race in America today. |

Blood: The Last Vampire $13.76 Rated: NASynopsis: The first all-digital anime production, Blood: The Last Vampire hails a new era in Japanese animation. Written by Ghost in the Shell creator Mamoru Oshii, the story follows a hunt for blood-sucking Chiropterans, revolting vampire creatures who mimic a human likeness. The big gun against these monsters is the enigmatic young Saya (voiced by Yuki Kudoh of Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train), a Japanese schoolgirl who could easily give Buffy a run for her money. With a riveting story that only scratches surfaces and suggests an upcoming series, Blood’s biggest disadvantage is its running time, which clocks in just above 40 minutes. Fortunately, the long-awaited DVD release includes the documentary The Making of Blood: The Last Vampire. Running almost as long as the movie itself, The Making of… shows how the animation team raised the bar by leagues to create Japan’s first “fully digital” animated feature. Not to be confused with animation based on digitally created images, such as in Toy Story, Blood’s process involves scanning hand-drawn images into computers, where artists perform the final coloring and rendering, an economical practice used by Disney since 1995′s Pocahontas. With character designs by popular illustrator Katsuya Terada (Zeiram) and direction by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Roujin-Z), the results are a staggering visual journey. Despite its short length, Blood: The Last Vampire is no doubt the future of anime, bound to claim its place next to landmark films such as Vampire Hunter D and Akira. Lewis Somoza ManaloThis anime feature blends digital computer animation with the more traditional drawn animation cells. The moody artwork compliments the story of Saya, the last true vampire, who must find and destroy an evil group of blood-sucking creatures that are hiding, and killing, within a US compound in Japan during the Vietnam War. This DVD presentation also includes a making-of featurette, and a trailer for the film. The voice of Saya is provided by (Youki Kodoh) who starred in 1999′s Snow Falling on Cedars. New York TimesYou don’t have to be familiar with the convoluted pop mythology behind the Japanese anime film Blood: The Last Vampire to appreciate some aspects of a movie that seems destined for cult status. The Last of the Lenape, and Other Poems $16.84 The Last Of The Lenape, And Other Poems. HERE have been periods when an essay in defence of Poetry, would have been deemed as superfluous as an attempt to defend the cultivation of flower gardens and orchards but in this utilitarian age, the wonderful discoveries of science, the progress of civil liberty, and the rapid march of improvernent in the niecbanic arts, in manufactures, and in navigation, have turned the attention of the public almost entirely to those pursuits which minister to the physical arts of man. It is not the design of this essay to discourage those pursuits, but merely to show that there are others which relate more immediately to the wants of the mind, and which have an equal, if not a still greater tendency to extend the sphere of human enjoyment. The happiness of man does not depend so much upon the extent of his temporal possessions, as upon the purity of his desires, and the harmonious action of his moral and intcllectual powers. The proper regulation of these powers depends much upon early associations, and upon refined taste which enables us to enjoy the grand and beautiful… Author: Janney, Samuel MacPherson Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 184 Publication Date: 2008/08/01 Language: English Dimensions: 8.50 x 5.50 x 0.42 inches |

The Last Indian War $24.95 This newest volume in Oxford's acclaimed Pivotal Moments series offers an unforgettable portrait of the Nez Perce War of 1877, the last great Indian conflict in American history. It was, as Elliott West shows, a tale of courage and ingenuity, of desperate struggle and shattered hope, of short-sighted government action and a doomed flight to freedom. To tell the story, West begins with the early history of the Nez Perce and their years of friendly relations with white settlers. In an initial treaty, the Nez Perce were promised a large part of their ancestral homeland, but the discovery of gold led to a stampede of settlement within the Nez Perce land. Numerous injustices at the hands of the US government combined with the settlers' invasion to provoke this most accomodating of tribes to war. West offers a riveting account of what came next: the harrowing flight of 800 Nez Perce, including many women, children and elderly, across 1500 miles of mountainous and difficult terrain. He gives a full reckoning of the campaigns and battles–and the unexpected turns, brilliant stratagems, and grand heroism that occurred along the way. And he brings to life the complex characters from both sides of the conflict, including cavalrymen, officers, politicians, and–at the center of it all–the Nez Perce themselves (the Nimiipuu, "true people"). The book sheds light on the war's legacy, including the near sainthood that was bestowed upon Chief Joseph, whose speech of surrender, "I will fight no more forever," became as celebrated as the Gettysburg Address. Based on a rich cache of historical documents, from government and military records to contemporary interviews and newspaper reports, The Last Indian War offers a searing portrait of a moment when the American identity–who was and who was not a citizen–was being forged. |

Hayward’s service, which began with his enlistment in the summer of 1861 and ended three years later following his mortal wounding at the Battle of Pine Knob in Georgia, took him through a variety of campaigns in both the Eastern and Western theaters of the war. He saw action in five states, participating in the battles of Antietam, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg as well as in the Chattanooga and Atlanta campaigns. Through his letters to his parents and siblings, we observe the early idealism of the young recruit, and then, as one friend after another died beside him, we witness how the war gradually hardened him. Yet, despite the increasing brutality of what would become America’s costliest conflict, Hayward continually reaffirmed his faith in the Union cause, reenlisting for service late in 1863. Hayward’s correspondence takes us through many of the war’s most significant developments, including the collapse of slavery and the enforcement of Union policy toward Southern civilians. Also revealed are Hayward’s feelings about Confederates, his assessments of Union political and military leadership, and his attitudes toward desertion, conscription, forced marches, drilling, fighting, bravery, cowardice, and comradeship. Ultimately, Hayward’s letters reveal the emotions—occasionally guarded but more often expressed with striking candor—of a soldier who at every battle resolved to be, as one comrade described him, “the first to spring forward and the last to leave the field.” Timothy J. Orr is an assistant professor of military history at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. |

Last Men Out $9.16 The monsoon winds swirling up from the South China Sea had doubled in magnitude as Marine Staff Sergeant Mike Sullivan stood on the roof of the American Embassy, watching North Vietnamese artillery pound Saigon’s airport. It was late in the afternoon of April 29, 1975, and for the past eight days the airstrip had been the busiest in the world as flight after flight of United States cargo planes ferried Vietnamese refugees, American civilians, and soldiers of both countries to safety while 150,000 North Vietnamese troops marched on the city. With Saigon now encircled and the airport bombed out, thousands were trapped. Last Men Out tells the remarkable story of the drama that unfolded over the next twenty-four hours: the final, heroic chapter of the Vietnam War as improvised by a small unit of Marines, a vast fleet of helicopter pilots flying nonstop missions beyond regulation, and a Marine general who vowed to arrest any officer who ordered his choppers grounded while his men were still on the ground. It would become the largest-scale evacuation ever carried out—what many would call an American Dunkirk. In a gripping, moment-by-moment narrative based on a wealth of recently declassified documents and indepth interviews, Bob Drury and Tom Clavin focus on the story of the eleven young Marines who were the last men to leave, rescued from the Embassy roof just moments before capture, having voted to make an Alamo-like last stand. As politicians in Washington struggled to put the best face on disaster and the American ambassador refused to acknowledge that the end had come and to evacuate, these courageous men held their ground and helped save thousands of lives. They and their fellow troops on the ground and in the air had no room for error as frenzy broke out in the streets and lashing rains and enemy fire began to pelt the city. One Marine pilot, Captain Gerry Berry, flew for eighteen straight hours and had to physically force the American ambassador onto his helicopter.Drury and Clavin gained unprecedented access to the survivors, to the declassified “After-Action reports” of the operation, and to the transmissions among helicopter pilots, their officers, and officials in Saigon secretly recorded by the National Security Agency. They deliver a taut and stirring account of a turning point in American history which unfolds with the heart-stopping urgency of the best thrillers—a riveting true story finally told, in full, by those who lived it. |

Language, Action and Context $210 The roots of pragmatics reach back to Antiquity, especially to rhetoric as one of the three liberal arts. However, until the end of the 18th century proto-pragmatic insights tended to be consigned to the pragmatic, that is rhetoric, wastepaper basket and thus excluded from serious philosophical consideration. It can be said that pragmatics was conceived between 1780 and 1830 in Britain, but also in Germany and in France in post-Lockian and post-Kantian philosophies of language. These early ‘conceptions’ of pragmatics are described in the first part of the book. The second part of the book looks at pragmatic insights made between 1830 and 1880, when they were once more relegated to the philosophical and linguistic underground. The main stage was then occupied by a fact-hunting historical comparative linguistics on the one hand and a newly spiritualised philosophy on the other. In the last part the period between 1880 and 1930 is presented, when pragmatic insights flourished and were sought after systematically. This was due in part to a new upsurge in empiricism, positivism and later behaviourism in philosophy, linguistics and psychology. Between 1780 and 1930 philosophers, psychologists, sociologists and linguists came to see that language could only be studied in the context of dialogue, in the context of human life and finally as being a kind of human action itself. |

The Last Ghost Dance $18.99 In the celebrated Buffalo Woman Comes Singing, Brooke Medicine Eagle revealed her extraordinary spiritual odyssey from her first guided steps on the medicine path to her ongoing work as one of the most respected Native American teachers of the modern era. Now she shares a groundbreaking approach to spiritual transformation–by revitalizing the powerful ancient ritual The Ghost Dance. Four centuries ago, when European invaders were ruthlessly plundering indigenous cultures, a Paiute tribesman received a vision of hope and resurrection, given by Father Spirit, to help survivors of the onslaught create a beautiful new life in the face of defeat, broken dreams, and death. That vision was celebrated in an ecstatic ghost dance honoring those who had perished. Brooke Medicine Eagle explains how and why we are profoundly connected to The Ghost Dance. As she herself becomes initiated into the "illusion of death" and the wisdom of "heart-centered ascension," she teaches us how to confront our deepest fears, overcome our resistance to change, and renew our lives. Through prayer, music, and dance, Medicine Eagle provides us with the tools to bring about the final fulfillment of this profound ritual–by living in harmony with earth’s rhythms, practicing sustainable living, honoring and sharing with all our relations, and freeing ourselves from the burden of possessions and possessiveness. Perceptive, practical, and luminous, The Last Ghost Dance is a call to action, a challenge to raise up from the ashes of our desecrated planet a world that welcomes the full flowering of the spirit–and a new age of abundance, love, and peace. Now Garthanas lives only for revenge. But, his plans change suddenly when he learns of a plot by Thamas I, the planet’s evil ruler, to liquidate the entire Hamarian race. The Last Samurai Widescreen Edition $4.69 Rated: RSynopsis: Chalk up another complex, finely detailed characterization to Tom Cruise, whose portrayal of a dissolute warrior makes this opulently mounted film one of the very best in his increasingly distinguished oeuvre. Cruise plays Nathan Algren, a Civil War hero whose battlefield excesses have driven him into a permanent state of self-loathing. Cynical and opportunistic, he accepts a lucrative commission to go to Japan and train the emperor’s army for a lengthy campaign against once-loyal samurai resentful of their monarch’s embrace of Western culture. Algren is forced into a premature clash with these disciplined, highly skilled fighters and is captured when his insufficiently trained men beat a desperate retreat. This is where the story actually begins: We see this able but dissipated man grow to admire his captors and embrace their philosophy, gradually regaining his honor and sense of purpose under the watchful eye of his captor, samurai leader Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe). Algren’s moral regeneration isn’t accomplished overnight, and director Edward Zwick does a fine job of conveying the character’s gradual transformation with pithy vignettes and relatively brief snatches of dialogue. He draws a sharp contrast between the principled, traditionalist samurai and the opportunistic Japanese businessmen who have persuaded the emperor to modernize the country and turn against the warrior brotherhood that has served the throne for hundreds of years. These machinations lead inevitably to a climactic battle that is one of the finer depictions of hand-to-hand encounters in recent memory. In fact, The Last Samurai has several such sequences, but it would be a mistake to label it an action film. Zwick and Cruise have made this remarkable story much more: a paean to honor, courage, and devotion to duty. It’s a deeply absorbing and sometimes profoundly moving tale of regeneration and redemption, superbly visualized and brilliantly acted. Edward Zwick returned to the director’s chair for the first time since 1998′s The Siege with this sweeping period drama set in 19th-century Japan. After centuries of relying on hired samurai for national defense, the Japanese monarchy has decided to do away with the warriors in favor of a more contemporary military. Tom Cruise stars as Nathan Algren, a veteran of the U.S. Civil War who is hired by the Emperor Meiji to train an army capable of wiping out the samurai. But when Algren is captured by the samurai and taught about their history and way of life, he finds himself conflicted over who he should be fighting alongside. Billy Connelly, Tony Goldwyn, and Ken Watanabe co-star. On Great Service: A Framework for Action $16.79 Improving service quality has finally become a top priority of management today, yet according to service quality expert Leonard Berry only a handful of companies have managed to determine exactly what to improve and how to improve it. For the past two years, Berry studied dozens of companies of all sizes renowned for their capacity to deliver what they promise and more. From his on-site observation of the strategies and practices of such companies as Mary Kay Cosmetics, Tattered Cover Book Store, Longo Toyota & Lexus, Lakeland Regional Medical Center, and Hard Rock Cafe, Berry has constructed a dynamic new framework for improving service. This framework provides a roadmap for implementation found nowhere else in the service quality literature. In every chapter Berry draws on his twelve years of research in service quality to explain each part of the framework in detail. He provides rich insights and inspiring examples of great service — including numerous examples unique to this book as well as the classic success stories of USAA, Taco Bell, and many more. Berry shows that a company must (1) develop service leadership skills and values — a concept substantially different from developing general leadership; (2) build a service quality information system; and (3) create a comprehensive service strategy based on the four principles of great service: reliability, surprise, recovery, and fairness. He demonstrates how these four principles, when adopted by the leadership and infused into the systems of a service company, are the building blocks of the framework and form the anchor for implementation. Berry shows how the "artistry" of great service can be systematically created from this foundation through a company’s organizational structure, technology, and often under utilized human resources assets. He challenges service managers to set their service quality aspirations higher, and his innovative, practical ideas will help them achieve those higher standards. Linking service excellence to value creation, Berry provides solid financial reasons for the necessity of great service. Here, at last, is the book for which managers in every service industry have waited: Leonard Berry’s "operating manual" for turning plans for great service into action. |

Every Last Drop: A Novel $9.29 [Charlie Huston's] action scenes are unparalleled in crime fiction and his dialogue is so hip and dead-on that Elmore Leonard should be getting nervous." -Publishers Weekly (starred review), on Half the Blood of Brooklyn It’s like this: a series of bullet-riddled bad breaks has seen rogue Vampyre and terminal tough guy Joe Pitt go from PI for hire to Clan-connected enforcer to dead man walking in a New York minute. And after burning all his bridges, the only one left to cross leads to the Bronx, where Joe’s brass knuckles and straight razor can’t keep him from running afoul of a sadistic old bloodsucker with a bad bark and a worse bite. Even if every Clan in Manhattan is hollering for Joe’s head on a stick, it’s got to be better than trying to survive in the outer-borough wilderness. So it’s a no-brainer when Clan boss Dexter Predo comes looking to make a deal. All Joe has to do to win back breathing privileges on his old turf is infiltrate an upstart Clan whose plan to cure the Vyrus could expose the secret Vampyre world to mortal eyes and set off a panic-driven massacre. Not cool. But Joe’s all over it. To save the Undead future, he just has to wade neck-deep through all the archenemies, former friends, and assorted heavy hitters he’s crossed in the past. No sweat? Maybe not, but definitely more blood than he’s ever seen or hungered for. And maybe even some tears-over the horror and heartbreaking truth about the evil men do no matter who or what they are. Praise for Charlie Huston and his Joe Pitt novels "In conceiving his world (a New York City divided by vampire clans, each with different reasons to hate Pitt), Huston gives a fading genre a fresh afterlife. [Grade:] A." -Entertainment Weekly "[Huston] creates a world that is at once supernatural and totally familiar, imaginative, and utterly convincing." -The Philadelphia Inquirer From the Trade Paperback edition. |

Last Horse Standing $15.59 In 1971 bushman Jack Camp went mustering wild cattle – ‘cleanskins’ – in a vast and isolated stretch of the Kimberley coast. The potential profit would be huge – but so were the risks. It was the unpredictable and dauntingly hot wet season the forbidding region was infested with snakes and crocodiles and the cattle would have to be swum out across a river notorious for its dramatic tidal surges. Everything was going according to plan when out of the blue a cyclone struck flooding the area and wreaking devastation. The cattle and horses were scattered the camp and equipment destroyed. Jack his young son and a teenage stockman were left without food fire shelter or a means of escape. No one knew their exact location as they were covering a huge area during the muster and they were expected to be gone for some weeks. As time passed without rescue and they grew weaker Jack decided their only chance was to head for a cattle station some fifty kilometres away. Though he knew it would be deserted for the wet season Jack was pinning all his hopes on finding supplies and a two-way radio there. The trouble was to reach it they would have to strike out across the shark- and crocodile-infested tidal estuary. With them went the recaptured Bluey the only survivor after the horses grazed on a poisonous local plant when feed was scarce. And so began a journey that would take them to hell and back. How they made it out is a gripping yarn and an inspiring testament to the grit and determination of the outback spirit. In classic Mike Keenan style this is an action-packed page-turner of an adventure that is sure to appeal to fans of his previous books and anyone who is fascinated by tales of bush heroism and endurance. |

Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1×12 Tube/Solid State Hybrid Combo Guitar Amplifier $379.99 Tube and solid-state, vintage and modern, clean and dirty ? the new VR Series has it all. Now, for the first time in VOX’s 50-plus-year history, you can channel switch between legendary VOX tones and higher gain modern tones, all powered by Valve Reactor real tube technology and at a price that will pleasantly surprise you! Originally designed for the critically acclaimed Valvetronix modelling amplifiers, the Valve Reactor circuit places a 12AX7 vacuum tube (or "valve") into the power stage. Known as a dual-triode tube, the 12AX7 is actually two tubes in one. Our engineers have configured this tube to act as a small power amplifier. This circuit provides all of the tonality and feel of an all tube amp. Too small to be used as an amplifier on its own, the output of this Valve Reactor circuit is fed to a high-quality solid state power amp that adds no tone coloration to the signal. This power amplifier also has some special circuits that feed the changing loudspeaker impedance information back to the Valve Reactor. This last interaction of tube, amp, and speaker provides the lively sound and feel that defines an all tube amplifier. Using an "old-school" split-panel design, the AC15VR offers two distinct channels- Normal and Overdrive-with the Overdrive channel adding a separate Gain knob. In addition, the overdrive Style button delivers two distinctive flavours. In addition to the Master Volume and Master Reverb, both channels of the AC15VR (Normal and Overdrive) share the same Treble and Bass tone controls. As with the AC30VR, the Overdrive channel features a Gain knob to add just the right amount of warmth and snarl to your sound. The 15 watt power amp feeds into a single 12" custom-designed Celestion speaker for attention-grabbing tone. The AC15VR’s back panel features an external speaker jack for use with an 8 ohm extension cabinet. Using an extension cabinet will mute the internal speaker. Also provided is a jack for the optional VOX VFS2 dual footswitch, which offers hands-free channel-switching and reverb on/off action. Vox AC30VR Valve Reactor 2×12 Tube/Solid State Hybrid Combo Guitar Amplifier $549 Tube and solid-state, vintage and modern, clean and dirty ? the new VR Series has it all. Using an "old-school" split-panel design, the AC30VR offers two distinct channels- Normal and Overdrive-with the Overdrive channel adding a separate Gain knob. In addition, the overdrive Style button delivers two distinctive flavours. Equipped with two custom-designed 12" Celestion speakers, the AC30VR delivers a roaring 30 watts of power. The Normal channel offers both Bass and Treble tone controls, along with a single Volume knob. A Gain knob has been added to the Overdrive channel, as well as a Middle control for more defined tone shaping. In the Master section, the AC30VR features our unique Tone Cut circuit knob for dampening the high-end frequencies. Master Reverb and Master Volume controls are also provided. The AC30VR’s back panel features an external speaker jack for use with an 8 ohm extension cabinet. Using an extension cabinet will mute the internal speaker. Also provided is a jack for the optional VOX VFS2 dual footswitch, which offers hands-free channel-switching and reverb on/off action. Specifications: Dimensions (W x D x H): 702 x 265 x 556 mm (27.64 x 10.43 x 21.89 inches) Weight: 23 kg (50.71 pounds) Output Power: 30 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms Speaker: 2x 12", 16 Ohm VX12 Celestion custom speaker Inputs: Input jack, Footswitch jack Outputs: External LoudSpeaker jack Options: VFS2A Dual Footswitch |

18 Seconds: A Novel By George D. Shuman $7.99 After spending nearly 30 years behind bars for causing a deadly school bus accident, Earl Sykes returns to his hometown determined to enact revenge for his incarceration. He sets his sights on Lieutenant Kelly O’Shaunisy, the daughter of his captor. But Earl Sykes has an even more sinister secret: as he plots his revenge, his penchant for the rape, torture and murder of young girls – the kinds of crimes he used to commit but for which he was never caught – needs to be fed.
As Sykes gives in to his dark urges and the bodies of young women begin to appear in desolate areas of the New Jersey boardwalk, newly minted Lieutenant O’Shaunisy takes on the investigation. As O’Shaunisy follows a series of frustrating dead-end leads, young women continue to go missing and bodies pile up.
But then a breakthrough changes the game entirely. Her desperation leads her to an unlikely source: Sherry Moore, a beautiful, blind psychic, who possesses the extraordinary ability to access the last 18 seconds of a person’s life by touching that person’s corpse. 21st Century Corporate Board $39.95 Over the last decade, dramatic changes in how corporations are led have radically transformed the board and its role in business. No longer a safe haven for the walnut-paneled aristocracy, today’s board is an autonomous power center for corporate leadership. How did this happen, and why? More importantly, how will tomorrow’s boards consolidate their newfound strength to tackle fresh challenges in the years ahead? 21st Century Corporate Board addresses these critical questions and more, offering both a masterful analysis of the forces driving corporate governance and a bold new blueprint of the structures, tools, and knowledge demanded for the effective boards of the future. You’ll find detailed coverage of all of the key issues in board makeup, pay, and training – from strategic board recruitment and pay for performance to director certification and high-tech board meetings. The book also helps you make sense of the revolution in board operations and organization, including cooperation with management, liability and compliance concerns, and the structure and use of special committees. In the modern corporate board, directors must think like owners, act like managers, and retain their independence. With its hard-hitting, market-based approach and razor-sharp insights, this book vividly illustrates the contradictions of allegiance and focus demanded by the new corporate dynamic – giving you a crucial jump on the action agenda of the 21st Century Corporate Board. |

4400: Promises Broken By David Mack $7.99 4400 taken, 4400 returned. All were given startling new abilities. Now, if you are willing to risk it all, you too can be extraordinary. Is this what the future intended to ensure the survival of the human race?
Promicin — which kills half of those who dare to inject it and grants paranormal abilities to those who survive — is spreading across the globe and threatening to plunge the entire world into chaos.
One year has passed since Jordan Collier and his followers seized control of Seattle and renamed it Promise City. U.S. armed forces have surrounded Seattle, and each day brings Collier and his Promicin-Positive Movement closer to all-out war with the world’s greatest military superpower.
However, the real threats are the Marked — agents from the future whose identities are encoded into body-hijacking nanites. They were sent back to thwart the efforts of the 4400. The last three surviving Marked lurk in the shadows, working in secret as they prepare to deliver a deathblow to the planet.
Caught in the crossfire are NTAC agents Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris. His son, Kyle, and her thirteen-year-old adopted daughter, Maia, are both more loyal to Jordan’s movement than to them. And when the standoff between Collier and the U.S. military explodes into open conflict, Tom, Diana, and fellow agents wind up outnumbered and outgunned.
In the end, the fate of all mankind will rest in the hands of one man: Tom Baldwin. |

A Cargo Of Eagles $14.95 In this, Ms. Allingham”s last novel, the action revolves around Saltey, for centuries a hidey-hole for all manner of villains. Astonishingly, it is the early 1960s, and Saltey, like many English coastal towns, is being over-run by teenage gangs. But that”s not why Albert Campion – now, really astonishingly, in late middle-age – has persuaded Lugg to take up residence. His interest lies in part with the just-out-of-prison thief who has (in time-honored tradition) gone to ground in Saltey. But his most passionate interest is reserved for the curious, newly revived story of the Saltey Demon. |

A Concrete Approach to Mathematical Modelling $199.91 Critical praise for A Concrete Approach to Mathematical Modelling … a treasure house of material for students and teachers alike…can be dipped into regularly for inspiration and ideas. It deserves to become a classic. London Times Higher Education Supplement The author succeeds in his goal of serving the needs of the undergraduate population who want to see mathematics in action, and the mathematics used is extensive and provoking. SIAM Review Each chapter discusses a wealth of examples ranging from old standards…to novelty … Each model is developed critically, analyzed critically, and assessed critically. Mathematical Reviews Michael Mesterton-Gibbons has done what no author before him could: he has written an in-depth, systematic guide to the art and science of mathematical modelling that’s a great read from first page to last. With an abundance of both wit and common sense, he shows readers exactly how the modelling process works, using fascinating real-life examples from virtually every realm of human, machine, natural, and cosmic activity. You’ll find models for determining how fast cars drive through a tunnel; how many workers industry should employ; the length of a supermarket checkout line; how birds should select worms; the best methods for avoiding an automobile accident; and when a barber should hire an assistant; just to name a few. Offering more examples, more detailed explanations, and by far, more sheer enjoyment than any other book on the subject, A Concrete Approach to Mathematical Modelling is the ultimate how-to guide for students and professionals in the hard sciences, social sciences, engineering, computers, statistics, economics, politics, business management, and every other discipline in which mathematical modelling plays a role. A Darkness Forged in Fire: Book One of the Iron Elves By Chris Evans $9.99 Rejected by their own kind for bearing the mark of the Shadow Monarch, the Iron Elves chose instead to serve with the human armies of the Calahrian Empire, hoping through their dedication and discipline to wipe out the stain of their birth. Their reputation is legendary — until their commander, Konowa Swiftdragon, takes it upon himself — for the best of reasons — to assassinate the Viceroy. Court-martialled and exiled to the forest he despises, his beloved regiment disgraced, dishonoured and disbanded, Konowa finds himself suddenly recalled and ordered to re-form the Iron Elves for one last reconnaissance mission. But the new Iron Elves are not at all the same as they were before, and the mission is a suicidal one, with more at stake than Konowa could possibly have imagined. For the Shadow Monarch and her allies have harnessed destructive forces with the power to tear worlds apart — and those who bear her mark have a destiny greater than they know.
So begins an heroic journey in the company of a motley band of misfits, rebels and outcasts, with a central character whose engaging, brilliantly realised blend of cynicism, dry humour, duty and anguish make him unlike any other in fantasy fiction. |

A Genealogy of Queer Theory $64.41 Who are queers and what do they want? Could it be that we are all queers? Beginning with such questions, William B. Turner’s lucid and engaging book traces the roots of queer theory to the growing awareness that few of us precisely fit standard categories for sexual and gender identity.Turner shows how Michel Foucault’s work contributed to feminists’ investigations into the ways that power relates to identity. In the last decades of the twentieth century, feminists were the first to challenge the assumption that a claim to universal identity — the white male citizen — should serve as the foundation of political thought and action. Difference matters. Race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality interact, producing a wide array of identities that resist rigid definition and are mutable. By understanding the notion of transhistorical categories — woman, man, homosexual, and so forth — feminist and gay male scholars launched queer theoretical work as a new way to think about the politics of gender and sexuality.A Genealogy of Queer Theory probes the fierce debates among scholars and activists, weighing the charges that queer readings of texts and identity politics do not constitute and might inhibit radical social change. Written by a historian, it considers the implications of queer theory for historical inquiry and the distinction between philosophy and history. As such, the book will interest readers of gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender studies, intellectual history, political theory, and the history of gender/sexuality. |

A Killing Spring $5.99 Gail Bowen, winner of the 1995 Arthur Ellis Award for best crime novel for her last Joanne Kilbourn mystery, A Colder Kind of Death, is back – with her most daring mystery to date. In the horrifying opening paragraph of A Killing Spring, Reed Gallagher, the head of the School of Journalism at the university where Joanne Kilbourn teaches, is found dead in a seedy rooming house. He is dressed in women’s lingerie, with an electric cord around his neck. Suicide, the police say. A clear case of accidental suicide. But for Joanne, who takes on the thankless task of breaking the news to Gallagher’s wife, this death is just the first in a series of misfortunes that rock her life, both professional and personal. A few days after Gallagher’s death, the School of Journalism is vandalized – its offices and computers are trashed, and homophobic graffiti are sprayed everywhere. Then an unattractive and unpopular journalism student in Joanne’s politics class stops coming to school after complaining to an unbelieving Joanne that she’s being sexually harassed. Clearly, all is not as well at the university as Joanne had thought. Nor is all well in her love life after the casual racism of a stranger drives a wedge between Joanne and her lover, Inspector Alex Kequahtooway. To make matters worse, Joanne is unceremoniously fired by her best friend from the weekly political panel on Nationtv, which she’s being doing for years. Badly shaken by these calamities, Joanne struggles to carry cheerfully on. Action, she knows, is better for her than moping. She decides to find out why her student has stopped coming to class, and in doing so, Joanne steps unknowingly into an on-campus world of fear anddeceit and murder. |
