I am looking for investors to invest in an exclusive, hooters type sportsbar/night club, how would I find one?
I would like to start in the southwestern michigan area. and branch out to mainly college cities.
OK – here’s how you do it. You look for people in the news in your area. Get their addresses if you can. You’re looking for high flyers with a public profile.
Then you get some of the potential employees together for a photoshoot. In the centre of the pic you impose a shape of a person, blanked out. You then make up a picture on the PC saying – Picture yourself here! – The script beneath reads sokething like “Come and meet some girls who’d like to work with you – we want to start a business, and we need your help. No strings – just come and meet us to talk about our idea.
You setup a meeting place – probably an art gallery or somewhere that would value the exposure (trhey’ll do it for free), and then you have an evening where you provide drinks and snacks (from your proposed menu) for investors to come to. They have to be there by 7.30pm. You have a copy of your business plan for each attendee, and you collect cards from everyone that comes. You give a short (5 mins) speech telling people what you’re doing, let them chat to the girls, pour about $100 of cheap wine down their throats, and see what happens. If no one likes you idea, you’ve got a small bill and you got off lightly. If you do find an investor or two, you hit gold.
