‘You Gotta Be’ by Desiree… the first cassette album I bought! That’s right… CASSETTE! CDs were around, but I can still remember going into Caldor’s and Bradlee’s and seeing the cassette selection as big if not bigger than the CDs.

Taking over the radio was TLC’s ‘Waterfalls,’ Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill,’ and Blues Traveler’s ‘Hook.’

‘In’ clothing was anything ‘hippie’ and a little bit ‘grunge.’ Polyester bellbottoms were huge, and sheer flowing patterned tops were also in. Metal O-ring belts were in, as well as the velour tee and anything holographic. Handbags were small, structured and often clear, holographic and/or glittery.
