The (Sum of the) Forces exerted on an object equals it’s mass times it’s acceleration.
In equation form:
F = ma
So if you exerted a force of 10 Newtons(SI unit of Force) on an object of 20 Kilograms…
F = ma
10 N = 20 Kg(a)
10N / 20 Kg = (a)
a = .5 meters per second squared.
So the acceleration of the object is .5 meters per second squared as long as 10 Newtons of force is applied to it.
